AGIOS SPIRIDON or SPIRIDONAS is located on the north coast of Corfu between Kassiopi and Acharavi. It is named after St Spiridon, the patron saint of Corfu, and is made up of two main beaches with another small cove nearby.
The main Agios Spiridon beach, and the most popular one, is a long stretch of sand close to the small chapel dedicated to the saint and with a large beach taverna behind.
Agios Spiridon beach is a long and deep strip of golden sand which shelves gently into the sea. Currents are known to be strong here so children should be watched. Passing ships don’t help as they often send big breakers crashing onto the shore.
There are three tavernas and a beach bar for day trippers at Agios Spiridon but the sands are mostly occupied by families from the hotel complex.
Over the bridge at the western end of Agios Spiridon beach is a large lagoon and nature reserve so expect to find plenty of mosquitoes near the water.
Agios Spiridon beach has plenty of sunbeds for hire, showers and there are changing facilities, but for toilets you must use the tavernas. Watersports are available but they are limited, mostly pedaloes and canoes for hire.
The deep beach at Agios Spiridon is fairly exposed but there are trees at the back of the sands for natural shade. There is not a great selection of shops and no public transport so you will probably need a car or bike to get around.
